Temporary-to-Permanent Opportunity
Pay: $50.00- $65.00 per hourAbout the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will support commissioning projects through a combination of field and office-based activities, ensuring building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design intent and owner expectations.
The successful candidate will lead and perform commissioning activities including startup, testing, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), functional performance testing, and system verification for a variety of facility and infrastructure projects.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders on mission-critical, commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute commissioning activities for mechanical, plumbing, utility infrastructure, and facility systems.
  • Perform QA/QC inspections, startup verification, and functional performance testing.
  • Review design documents, specifications, and commissioning plans.
  • Verify system operation and performance against project requirements and design intent.
  • Coordinate with owners, contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Support new construction, renovation, retro-commissioning, and existing building commissioning projects.
  • Identify deficiencies and track corrective actions through project completion.
  • Prepare commissioning reports, test procedures, and project documentation.
  • Promote operational efficiency, reliability, and maintainability of building systems.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive commissioning experience involving:
    • Utility infrastructure systems
    • Mechanical and plumbing systems
    • Building automation systems (BAS) and controls
    • Building/facility systems and components
    • Facility operations and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of:
    • ASHRAE guidelines and standards
    • NFPA codes and standards
    • TAB (Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing) processes
    • Mechanical system testing requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including multi-week field assignments and occasional long-term project deployments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mission Critical/Data Center commissioning experience.
  • Industry-recognized commissioning certification (CxA, CCP, CBCP, ACG Certified Commissioning Authority, or equivalent).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing abilities.

Candidates whose experience is exclusively within petrochemical or refinery commissioning environments will not be considered. Candidates should possess experience related to commercial, institutional, industrial facilities, mission-critical environments, or building systems commissioning.
