Mechanical AssemblerWe are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines using a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will manipulate engine components during the assembly process, learning the technical aspects of engine assembly including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. This is not a basic assembly line position; it requires individuals who are mechanically inclined and borderline mechanics.ResponsibilitiesAssemble large diesel and natural gas engines.Utilize hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes.Interpret blueprints and specifications to perform assembly tasks.Troubleshoot and repair in-process engines.Follow written work instructions and document processes/progress using a CPU.Essential SkillsProven experience in an industrial environment.Experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment, DC tools, and hand tools.Mid-level mechanical aptitude.Experience with blueprints, SOPs, and work instructions.Ability to pass written and hands-on assessments during the training period.Basic CPU skills for following engineering drawings and work instructions.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, and maintenance.Comfortable with crane/hoist operation.Proficiency in reading blueprints and using a tape measure.Mechanical assembly experience.Available Shifts and Pay1st Shift: 6:30AM-2:30PM - $21.342nd Shift: 2:30PM-10:30PM - $22.093rd Shift: 10:30PM- 6:30AM - $22.09Why Work Here?Join a large, well-known manufacturing plant that offers opportunities for full-time positions based on attendance and performance. PPE is mandatory, including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses, which are provided. Teams typically consist of two people working together, ensuring a collaborative atmosphere. The campus is tobacco-free, with designated areas for use during breaks.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, IN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
