Mechanic, Class E - PainterThe Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Mechanic, Class E - Painter. Our vision is to provide a learning environment where all students are valued, accepted, and prepared to positively impact their lives, the community, and the world.Requirements and qualifications:Minimum qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentDemonstrate knowledge related to modern carpentry, painting, including related practices, materials, and equipmentFour (4) years' experience in the mechanics/maintenance craftValid New Jersey driver's licensePossess a Black Seal License or must obtain one within two (2) years of employmentAbility to perform tasks relating to other industry trades preferred (i.e. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.)Knowledge of basic regulations governing safety relating to the mechanics/maintenance craftAbility to effectively interact and communicate with internal and external customersAbility to perform tasks that require frequent heavy liftingFocused on safety and security of District staff and studentsExperience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mailRequired criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S.
citizenship or legal resident alien statusRole and responsibilities:PaintingPrepare surfaces prior to beginning workPaint a variety of surfaces (e.g. buildings, parking lot markings, floors, lockers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in an attractive, safe, and usable conditionProtect all nearby furnishings and building materials before and during every painting job, including carpets, cabinetry, outlet covers, lighting fixtures and landscapingPrepare a variety of surfaces (e.g. cleaning, sanding, patching, masking, nail holes, cracks, joints, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that they are ready for painting and/or refinishingRemove graffiti (e.g.

Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire.
Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011 are exempt from this requirement and may continue to reside outside the state.
