School Nurse PRN
Job Description: Mississinewa Community Schools is seeking a dependable PRN School Nurse to provide professional nursing coverage throughout the district on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate is a licensed RN or LPN who can confidently provide quality nursing care and support when regular school nursing staff is unavailable.
Requirements:

• Current Indiana RN or LPN license
• Current CPR/AED certification
• Nursing experience required; school or pediatric experience preferred
• Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to student health needs
• Dependable and available for as-needed coverage
• Professional and compassionate approach when working with students, families, and staff

Responsibilities:

• Offers direct care during the school day to students and staff
• Administer medication
• Assists and cares for students with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizure disorders, feeding tubes, catheters, etc.
• Maintains communication with parents regarding chronic or acute health conditions of students
• Documents visit to health clinic, medication administered, and incidence of illness
• Maintains licensure in the state of Indiana
• Maintains CPR certification for healthcare providers
• Communicates with family members and other health professionals to assure continuity of care between home and school
• Completes accident reports as needed
• Adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to confidential patient health, safety, and medical information
• Supports the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of students
• Follows and adheres to all school district policies and procedures
