Job TitleIndependent Folder OperatorJob DescriptionIndependently set up and operate an MBO continuous-feed folder. Produce a variety of folded products, including brochures, self-mailers, newsletters and other commercial projects. Read and follow job tickets, folding diagrams and production instructions. Confirm job specifications before beginning production. Make adjustments to maintain accurate folds, registration and consistent product quality. Troubleshoot feeding, folding, registration and delivery issues. Monitor quality throughout production run. Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist with equipment repairs. Operate or assist with a Mark IV saddle stitcher, Polar cutter and other bindery and hand-finishing equipment. Assist with mailing equipment setup, operation and material handling. Prepare finished jobs for shipment, delivery or customer pickup. Receive paper, supplies and other incoming materials. Make local deliveries and pickups using a company vehicle. Assist with hand bindery, packaging and general production work. Maintain clean, safe and organized production and warehouse areas. Follow all company safety and quality-control procedures. Assist in other departments as production schedules require.Minimum Education RequiredHigh School diploma or GEDMinimum Experience RequiredPrevious hands-on experience setting up and operating an MBO continuous-feed folder is required. Ability to independently complete folding setups and production adjustments. Ability to identify and resolve common folding, feeding, registration and delivery problems. Strong mechanical aptitude. Commercial printing or bindery experience. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good organizational and time-management skills. Ability to read job tickets and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to prioritize and meet production deadlines. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
