Mathematics Expert (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your years of advanced mathematical training could directly shape how AI reasons through the world's hardest problems? We're looking for Mathematics Experts — Masters and PhD holders — to help build and improve the mathematical reasoning capabilities of cutting‑edge AI models.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. You'll work asynchronously alongside world‑class AI researchers, applying your deep expertise to problems that genuinely matter.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced mathematical problems with real‑world relevance
  • Design complex, rigorous problem statements drawing on your expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related areas
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to enhance the reasoning capabilities of AI models
  • Evaluate the mathematical quality, clarity, and depth of AI-generated solutions and proofs
  • Ensure every deliverable meets the highest standards of mathematical rigor

Who You Are

  • Holder of a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
  • Deeply fluent in one or more core mathematical domains — algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or beyond
  • Experienced with Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, or similar tools for mathematical computation and research
  • A precise, clear communicator who can articulate complex reasoning in writing
  • Self‑motivated and consistent when working independently on structured tasks
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or AI training workflows
  • Background in academic research, technical writing, or peer review
  • Exposure to applied mathematics, mathematical modeling, or computational methods
  • Familiarity with AI tools or language model evaluation as an end user

Why Join Us

  • Work on frontier AI projects alongside leading research labs — your expertise directly shapes model intelligence
  • Fully remote and flexible — set your own hours and work from anywhere
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, rigorous, task‑based work
  • Contribute to AI development that advances the state of mathematical reasoning at scale
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
