Moffat County High School Math Teacher

Looking for a motivated and enthusiastic team players to fill a Math teaching position at the Moffat County High School. Salary: Starting base salary is $51,000, actual placement on the salary schedule is based on experience and education.

Education and/or Experience: Minimum requirement Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited four year college or university.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals established clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials (including field trips) that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Assists the administration implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments of teacher aides and/or volunteers, and cooperatively with the principal evaluates their job performance.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training programs and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Maintains records and makes such reports as required and directed by the administration.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The employee supervises students in the class, paraprofessionals and volunteers.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. The employee must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more, such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and is a standard acceptable level for this environment.
  • Is directly responsible for student safety, work output and wellbeing.
