Job Description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville seeks a full‑time faculty member at the level of Associate Professor or Professor for the position of Chief of the Maternal‑Fetal Medicine (MFM) division. This 1.0 FTE position reports to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Responsibilities include overseeing clinical care delivered by faculty within the division, promoting investigator‑initiated scholarship, and engaging in training of resident physicians and medical students. Candidates should have sufficient academic experience to qualify for either the rank of Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine with a history of training residents. Additional qualifications include a broad vision and excellent interpersonal skills.

• Oversee clinical care delivered by faculty within the division.
• Promote investigator‑initiated scholarship.
• Engage in training of resident physicians and medical students.
• Provide high‑quality, compassionate outpatient care across North Florida and South Georgia regions.
• Participate in academic activities such as medical education scholarship and collaborative research.
• Supervise medical students and resident physicians in clinical settings.
• Participate in hospital, medical school, and department committees, and division conferences.

Qualifications

Minimum: MD/DO and hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida medical license or foreign equivalent.

• Completion of an approved fellowship and board certified or eligible in Maternal‑Fetal Medicine.
• History of training residents and/or fellows in maternal‑fetal medicine.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Capacity to provide clinical care including labor and delivery coverage, complex pregnancy care, perinatal consultations, ultrasound, and invasive/non‑invasive fetal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Clinical Focus

Provide high‑quality, compassionate care in an outpatient setting, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to serve patients across North Central Florida and Southern Georgia. Duties may include coverage of labor and delivery activities, oversight of complex pregnancy care, perinatal consultations, ultrasound, and invasive and non‑invasive fetal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Teaching and Supervision

Educate and supervise medical students and resident physicians in the fundamentals of maternal‑fetal medicine, including surgical and ultrasound skills.

Collaborative Environment

Participate in hospital, medical school, and department committees, attend and support department activities (rounds, special lectures, postgraduate courses, etc.), and engage in division conferences and fellowship activities. Scholarly and research collaborations are encouraged and provide opportunities for professional growth.
