JOB OVERVIEW

Lotus Technical has a contract opportunity for a Materials Manager for our client, a manufacturing company located in St Louis Park, MN. Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder. Must be local to the MN area. Sorry, no relocations. The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, availability, and control of materials required to support production and meet customer delivery commitments. This role manages purchasing, inventory levels, supplier relationships, material scheduling, and inventory accuracy to ensure materials are available when needed while minimizing excess inventory, shortages, and unnecessary costs.
This position works closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, and Finance to align material requirements with production schedules, manage supply chain risks, improve operational efficiency, and maintain accurate inventory records and purchasing processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Develop and manage purchasing plans based on production schedules, customer demand, inventory
levels, and forecast material requirements.
Prepare, review, and release purchase orders to ensure materials are ordered in the correct quantities and delivered on schedule.
Evaluate purchasing opportunities to reduce costs, improve lead times, and increase supply reliability.
Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production without creating unnecessary excess or obsolete inventory.
Monitor inventory accuracy, material usage, stock levels, and inventory transactions. Oversee cycle counting, physical inventory counts, and the investigation and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
Establish and maintain appropriate reorder points, safety stock levels, and purchasing parameters.
Ensure materials are properly identified, stored, issued, and tracked throughout the production process.
Work closely with Production and Operations to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
Maintain accurate materials, purchasing, and inventory data within the company's ERP and inventory management systems.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to inventory accuracy, material availability,
supplier performance, purchasing costs, and inventory turns.
Establish, document, and maintain standardized processes for purchasing, receiving, inventory control,
and material allocation.
Provide regular reports on inventory status, purchasing activity, material shortages, supplier performance, and other relevant operational metrics.
Provide direction and oversight to purchasing, inventory control, receiving, or materials personnel, as
applicable.
Train employees on purchasing procedures, inventory controls, and system requirements.
Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and adherence to established
processes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field
preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
Five or more years of experience in materials management, purchasing, inventory control, or supply chain operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience managing purchasing activities, inventory levels, supplier relationships, and material availability.
Experience with ERP or inventory management systems; MS Dynamics experience a plus.
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Must be US Citizen, or Green Card Holder.
