You will report to the Materials and Fuel Rod Design Manager.
This is a hybrid role, located in Columbia, SC. Local candidates only.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical guidance and direction to and collaborate with other entities such as national laboratories, universities, and industry groupsBring engineering thoughtfulness to resolution of problems, requiring prior knowledge and literature review within given disciplineSupport hands-on material testing programs in a test lab environment. Testing ranges from mechanical testing, autoclave corrosion testing, creep testing, high temperature oxidation, and materials/chemical characterizationDevelop new capabilities and methodologies in the laboratory for materials characterization.
Oversee and provide training to technician and engineering personnelWork with customers, national labs, and universities for collaborative development programs to develop advanced fuel materialsAnalyze and provide test data for supporting new fuel materials for licensing submittalsQualifications:3+ years of experienceChemical Engineering degree helpfulBachelor's degree in engineering required, with an emphasis toward nuclear materialsExperience with zirconium-based alloysAnalytical experience using advanced characterization techniques including SEM, EDS, EBDS, WDS, XRD, XPS, FIB, and TEMExperience with computation and data analysis software (including SolidWorks, Inventor, ThermoCalc, Python, Matlab, and Excel (can perform complex functions))We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices.
