Materials Control CoordinatorThe Materials Control Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of daily material flow activities supporting manufacturing operations.

The role performs receiving, shipping, material movement, staging, inventory transactions, raw material handling, remnant control, and other Materials Control activities as assigned.The Materials Control Coordinator ensures that material is properly identified, documented, transacted, stored, staged, and moved in accordance with production priorities, quality requirements, and established procedures. This role is a hands-on position that supports reliable production flow by ensuring the correct material is in the correct location at the required time.The role is intended to provide disciplined execution of the site's routine Materials Control activities while maintaining strong standards for traceability, transaction accuracy, safety, organization, and responsiveness to production needs.Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial ReceivingReceive raw material, purchased components, outside processed product, and other incoming itemsVerify quantities, purchase order information, material identification, and required documentationComplete receiving transactions accurately in the ERP systemMaintain required heat, lot, certification, and traceability informationProperly identify, label, and place received material in designated locationsEscalate quantity, condition, identification, or documentation discrepancies to the Materials Control Specialist or SupervisorMaterial Movement & StagingMove material between receiving, storage, production, outside processing, inspection, and shipping areas as requiredStage raw material, components, and work-in-process based on production prioritiesVerify part number, job number, quantity, identification, and destination before movementMaintain physical identification and traceability throughout material movementSupport production personnel by ensuring scheduled material is delivered to the appropriate work areaEscalate missing, misplaced, damaged, or improperly identified materialInventory ControlComplete material issue, transfer, return, location, and other assigned inventory transactionsMaintain accurate storage locations and material identificationSupport cycle counting, physical inventory, and inventory verification activitiesAssist in investigating discrepancies between physical inventory and ERP recordsMaintain organized raw material, component, work-in-process, and remnant storage areasEnsure material is not moved or consumed without appropriate identification and transaction disciplineShipping ExecutionPrepare completed product for shipment in accordance with established shipping instructionsVerify part numbers, revisions, quantities, customer information, and packaging requirementsComplete assigned ERP shipping transactions and documentationApply required labels and prepare shipping documentationSupport customer-specific packaging and shipment requirementsEnsure product is protected from damage during handling, staging, and shipmentRaw Material & Remnant ControlProperly store and identify bar, plate, sheet, tube, billet, and other raw material formsMaintain heat, lot, material specification, and other required traceability informationIdentify and return usable remnants to controlled storage after production useEnsure remnants are properly labeled and associated with required traceability documentationAssist in maintaining orderly and efficient raw material storage locationsReport unidentified, damaged, or questionable material immediatelyProduction SupportRespond to material movement and staging requests in accordance with established prioritiesSupport Production Control and production personnel in locating material and maintaining job flowAssist with movement of material to and from band saw, waterjet, inspection, outside processing, and production areasSupport expedited jobs and shipment-critical priorities as directedCommunicate material shortages, staging problems, or movement constraints to the Materials Control Specialist or SupervisorSafety, Quality & Workplace DisciplineFollow all safety requirements, PPE requirements, lifting practices, and material handling proceduresSafely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, carts, or other material handling equipment when trained and authorizedMaintain clean, organized, and clearly identified material storage and staging areasFollow quality procedures, traceability requirements, work instructions, and standard workProtect material and finished product from damage, contamination, loss, or improper mixingParticipate in training, continuous improvement, cycle count, and housekeeping activitiesExecution AuthorityPerform approved Materials Control transactions within assigned responsibilitiesMove and stage properly identified material according to established prioritiesReceive and ship material in accordance with approved proceduresStop and escalate material movement when identification, traceability, quantity, condition, or documentation appears incorrectReport inventory discrepancies, material shortages, shipment concerns, or unsafe conditionsRecommend practical improvements to material handling, storage, staging, and workflowThe Materials Control Coordinator does not have authority to:Independently change production prioritiesCommit delivery dates to customersSubstitute raw material, specifications, or material conditionsDisposition nonconforming materialChange controlled manufacturing, inspection, or quality requirementsMake purchasing commitmentsPerform unauthorized ERP adjustments intended to reconcile inventory discrepancies without proper investigation and approvalQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required1+ years of experience in manufacturing, materials, inventory, shipping and receiving, warehousing, or a related environment preferredExperience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, or regulated manufacturing environments preferredBasic computer skills and ability to learn ERP/MRP transactionsStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate material identification and documentationAbility to read purchase orders, labels, job travelers, packing documentation, and basic production documentationAbility to perform basic counting, measurement, and inventory verificationAbility to safely operate material handling equipment following required trainingStrong reliability, organization, communication, and follow-throughPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workdayAbility to frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, and perform physical material handling activitiesAbility to safely climb and work from ladders as required to access material storage locations, perform inventory activities, or retrieve and stage materialAbility to routinely lift, carry, position, or move items weighing up to 50 poundsAbility to handle heavier materials through the appropriate use of forklifts, cranes, hoists, pallet jacks, carts, team lifting, or other approved material handling equipmentAbility to push and pull carts, pallet jacks, containers, and other material handling devicesAbility to handle, count, label, package, stage, and physically verify raw material, work-in-process, and finished productAbility to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, hoists, or other material handling equipment when trained and authorizedAbility to visually read labels, material markings, heat and lot identification, job travelers, shipping documentation, and computer screensAbility to perform repetitive material movement, packaging, labeling, scanning, counting, and ERP transaction activitiesAbility to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodationWork EnvironmentWork is
