This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is on-site. The Materials and Purchasing Manager is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material flow to support the manufacturing operations while optimizing inventory levels, supplier performance, and procurement costs.

This role leads purchasing, materials planning, inventory control, and supplier management activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesPurchasing and Supplier ManagementDevelop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with business objectivesSource, negotiate, and manage supplier agreements and contractsEvaluate supplier performance on quality, delivery, cost, and responsivenessLead supplier development and corrective action initiativesIdentify cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunitiesMaterials Planning and Inventory ManagementEnsure material availability to support the production schedulesManage the MRP/ERP planning processes and inventory accuracyEstablish inventory targets and monitor inventory turnsReduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventoryCoordinate cycle counts and physical inventory activitiesSupervise the shipping and receiving activitiesOperations SupportCollaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance teamsSupport new product introductions and engineering change managementResolve material shortages and supply chain disruptionsDevelop contingency plans to mitigate supply risksTeam LeadershipLead and develop purchasing and materials personnelEstablish department goals, KPI's, and performance metricsCoach team members and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvementSupport succession planning and associate developmentReporting and ComplianceMonitor purchasing spend and budget performanceEnsure compliance with company policies and procurement proceduresPrepare and present supply chain performance reports to leadershipMaintain compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirementsQualificationsQualificationsEducationA Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related fieldMBA or advanced degree is preferredExperience5 + years of purchasing, materials management or supply chain leadership experienceManufacturing environment experience is requiredExperience managing suppliers and contract negotiationsPrevious supervisory or management experience is preferredTechnical SkillsStrong ERP/MRP systems experience (Infor LN, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.).Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis, including Power BIInventory management and demand planning experienceUnderstanding of procurement and supply chain best practicesLeadership CompetenciesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsProven ability to lead cross-functional teamsExcellent problem-solving and decision-making skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentResults-oriented with strong organizational skillsKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Supplier On-Time Delivery (%)Inventory TurnsMaterial Shortage IncidentsPurchase Price Variance (PPV)Inventory AccuracySupplier Quality Performance (PPM)Cost Savings AchievementProduction Schedule AttainmentPreferred CertificationsAPICS CPIMAPICS CSCPCPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management)Lean Manufacturing CertificationSix Sigma Green Belt or Black BeltJob SummaryJob ID:
