Materials AnalystThe Materials Analyst supports production planning, scheduling, raw material coordination, inventory oversight, and order management to ensure customer and production needs are met.
The role involves close coordination with internal teams, suppliers, Purchasing, and customers, with a strong emphasis on schedule accuracy, material availability, forecast visibility, inventory control, and continuity of support during staff absences or high-volume periods.General tasks include:Review and adjust customer orders accurately (manual and EDI-based)Maintain SAP and Access database accuracy for order tracking and material managementCoordinate and distribute schedules and updates across Production, Shipping, Purchasing, and ManagementMaintain and communicate the production floor schedule dailySupport and participate in inventory counts, reconciliation, and auditsGenerate and analyze reports related to sales, orderbook, and production metricsPerform administrative and documentation tasks to support audits and complianceEnsure adherence to ISO/TS, IATF, and environmental/health/safety standardsDemonstrate safe work practices, professionalism, integrity, accountability, and adherence to company values, policies, and proceduresSupport teamwork, positive employee relations, effective communication, and respectful interdepartmental relationshipsMaintain a clean, organized, quality-focused work area while pursuing continuous improvement and ongoing learningProvide direction, support, and backup coverage as requested by the supervisor, including support to Materials Administration and other assigned dutiesCoordinate with Production, Assembly, Shipping, Purchasing, and Management to align schedule priorities, component availability, and customer requirementsPerform monthly and annual inventory counts, support reconciliation, and process approved SAP inventory adjustments under department manager directionRaw material procurement tasks include:Assist with forecasting raw material and component requirements based on MRP signals, production schedules, customer demand, order history, and inventory levelsServe as backup support to Purchasing for direct material procurement, including supplier releases, open PO follow-up, delivery schedules, and escalation of supply risksSchedule production and supplier releases through SAP to support fulfillment of customer requirements and uninterrupted production flowMonitor vendor performance, delivery compliance, lead times, and market conditions; communicate risks and support corrective actions as neededMonitor and report on inventory turns, supplier pricing, inbound freight cost, plant spend, and supply chain cost driversManage, monitor, and control raw material and production inventory to ensure proper levels are maintained and components are available at the correct time and point of useSet up and coordinate new component schedules in SAP with Purchasing and support acquisition of samples as requiredProcess Return Material Authorization paperwork with Quality to support supplier returns and material dispositionMaintain procurement documentation, supplier records, and supporting files to ensure audit readiness and process compliancePlanning tasks include:Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules through SAP to meet customer requirements, forecast demand, and changing production prioritiesManage total production scheduling across all product lines, ensuring sufficient lead time, priority visibility, and efficient production flowCoordinate powder releases and integrate customer-defined schedules (DEFINE, portals, etc.)Adjust schedules in response to equipment downtime, quality issues, labor constraints, overtime needs, supplier disruptions, or customer demand changesAssist in BOM/routing updates and integration into planning tools as neededSupport scenario planning and capacity reviews based on forecastAssumes the responsibilities of the Sales Analyst and Shipping Specialist to ensure orders are completed timelyWork effectively as a team member of the Production DepartmentAvailable for work beyond regularly scheduled hoursAttendance is requiredEqual opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities
