Material ManagerPike CorporationUnited StatesPosition Overview:The Material Manager plans laydown yard/warehouse, receives equipment and material at the job site. The Material Manager verifies that all items received match the purchase order, checks the quantity and specifications against the purchase order, and completes all necessary documentation associated with each order.This role is expected to be a competent leader in material management to ensure success for substation, transmission or distribution projects.Essential Functions:Ensure that all activities comply with environmental, health and safety codes and proceduresResponsible for receiving, storing and shipping materials kept in a laydown yard and warehouseReceive and unload materials while loading or ship them when shipping. Organize and Clean Daily – Office, Warehouse and Laydown YardsPerform various activities such as receiving, storing, stocking, and distributing a wide variety of materials and supplies. Ensure the enforcement of all material handling proceduresPerform various activities as required by management to support the daily operationsVerify that the receipt of all material shipments matches the bill of ladingOffload vendor deliveries using proper equipmentOrganize material for ease of access for inventory count, replenishment, rotation and in storage pickingKeep accurate inventory of all inbound and outbound material from storageManage and lead other material yard helpers when applicableMinimum Requirements:High school diploma or GED5+ years of experience in the energy industryHigh energy level with the ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environmentDemonstrated leadership in transmission or distribution construction and material managementDeal with a variety of individuals from multiple socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgroundsHigh Commitment to achieving goals and plansThe job requires excellent physical health as it demands physical effort and necessitates lifting, bending or standing for long periods of timeWillingness to work indoors and outdoors with the potential for harsh weather conditionsOther Abilities:Valid driver's license and vehicle suitable for business use (mileage reimbursement may apply).Experience in Substation, Transmission, and Distribution construction and material managementTrained and certified to operate heavy-lifting machinery such as forklift, skid steer and cranes.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this role.This position combines office and field work.
In the office, it involves regular sitting, frequent computer and tool use, and continuous communication. In the field, employees work in outdoor environments such as roadside areas and construction sites, often on uneven terrain and in varying weather conditions.The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, perform activities such as reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, or kneeling, and lift up to 10 pounds regularly. Visual abilities including close and distance vision, color distinction, peripheral vision, and depth perception are necessary.Regular travel to job sites, including occasional overnight stays and emergency response work, may be required.
