Material HandlerThis role supports a heavy industrial manufacturing operation by safely handling, measuring, and preparing materials for production. The material handler works with overhead cranes, performs manual loading and unloading, and assists with tasks such as drilling and cleaning poles, measuring materials for cutting, and moving scrap and waste. This is a flexible, hands-on position that requires strong attention to detail, accurate measurement skills, and a commitment to safe working practices.ResponsibilitiesInterpret work orders and follow verbal instructions to determine which materials or containers need to be moved or delivered.Drill materials and clean poles as needed to support production requirements.Load and unload materials by hand onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.Measure materials accurately, down to 1/16 of an inch, to prepare items for the burn table and other cutting operations.Move product, scrap, and waste materials to chip bins and trash containers as needed.Primarily operate overhead cranes to move large industrial materials safely and efficiently.Perform general labor tasks to support production, including manual handling and housekeeping of work areas.Assist with unloading incoming materials and organizing them in designated storage locations.Use a tape measure and basic math skills to verify dimensions and ensure materials meet specifications.Follow all safety guidelines, rules, and procedures while employing safe working habits at all times.Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure materials are available where and when needed.Remain flexible with job duties and support other tasks as assigned within the manufacturing facility.Essential SkillsProven overhead crane experience in a heavy industrial environment.Heavy industrial material handling experience, including working with large and heavy materials.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure, including measurements down to 1/16 of an inch.Experience with general labor and production support in a manufacturing setting.Ability to follow safety guidelines and consistently employ safe working habits.High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to follow oral and written instructions and complete tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials throughout the shift.Additional Skills & QualificationsMachine operation experience preferred, especially for future opportunities after being brought on directly.Experience working in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.Comfort working with overhead cranes more frequently than forklifts.Flexibility to handle a variety of duties, including drilling, cleaning, unloading, and general production support.Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate effectively with production and operations staff.Why Work Here?The organization offers a clear path for growth, allowing individuals to start in a material handling position and progress into operator roles and eventually lead or supervisor positions after being brought on directly. The work involves frequent use of overhead cranes, manual material handling, and general production support tasks in a heavy industrial setting. Team members should expect a physically demanding environment with exposure to noise, dust, and industrial equipment, and should be prepared to follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment as required.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
