Material HandlerThe Material Handler is responsible for the safe movement and organization of materials throughout the warehouse and other locations of the facility, primarily by utilizing warehousing equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks, but also by hand as necessary. Additionally, the role is also responsible for certain general housekeeping and layout/reorganization tasks and supports numerous special projects on an as-needed basis. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Safely operate equipment and utilize safe and appropriate physical techniques to move materials to and from storage configurationsFollow the Material Handling process, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with Quality SystemsUse equipment in accordance with training programs to accomplish the Warehouse mission in a safe, effective mannerUnload all materials into Receiving Department; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately report material receivedMove material from the Receiving Department to the Warehouse locations in an efficient, effective, and safe mannerEnsure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety proceduresBecome forklift certifiedAdditional duties as assignedForklift operationProject managementProfessional communicationEducation and experience required include:A high-energy personality and desire to learn and grow quickly2-3 years of experience of forklift operationA High School Diploma or equivalentKnowledge of Receiving or Warehouse, with emphasis on Material Handling operations, methods, and practicesStrong proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel, and general office technologyDemonstrated ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealings with outside vendors, coworkers, and clientsProfessional, polished communication skills – oral and writtenPhysical demands and work environment:While performing the responsibilities of the Material Handler, the employee will be walking within the warehouse vicinity.
More than 75% of their job duties will require the ability to: walk long distances, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The noise level is usually low, as consistent with a warehouse environment. At times, some light lifting may be required, up to 50 lbs.
