Material HandlerThe Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials and products throughout the shipping and production areas. This role involves operating various material handling equipment such as forklifts (hilo), hand lifts, and barrel lifts to feed production lines with needed RAW materials and move WIP or Finished Goods to the next designated area. This role will also be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, staging parts for packing, prepping skids for shipment and supporting additional shipping needs as directed.
The ideal candidate will work closely with shipping clerks and auditors to maintain workflow and meet material requirement deadlines.Essential FunctionsSafely and accurately move product throughout the production and shipping areas with precision and care using a hand lift, barrel lift, and forklift/hilo.Load and unload trucks, send ASNs and scan BOL's into Plex.Basic production material handler needs including scanning and moving product and material throughout plant.Labeling and putting product away.Work with shipping clerks to stage their parts to be packed by packers.Work with auditors to ensure parts are being completed on time for shipping needs.Understand and follow policy and direction.Have a continuous improvement mindset.Must be able to successfully work independently/without supervision and also be self-engaged.Wrap outgoing product to customers.CompetenciesAttention to detailTeam playerFlexibility and AdaptabilityWillingness to learn and improveEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required.2-4 Years of hilo experience preferred but not requiredTechnical Skills & AbilitiesBasic understanding of product flow, scanners and math.Regular and consistent attendance is essential.Soft SkillsClarity of communication, speech and writingDependabilityAdaptability & TrustworthinessTrustworthinessPhysical DemandsStanding / walking for long periods of timeStoopingRepetitive motionLifting – and or move up to 50 pounds regularly and move 300 pounds regularly.ReachingWork EnvironmentRegular exposure to moving mechanical parts.Noise levels in the work environment are typically moderate.
