Material Coordinator

The Material Coordinator performs a variety of material handling, shipping, receiving, and packaging activities with minimal supervision to support manufacturing and fabrication schedules. This role coordinates workflow and monitors activities across one or more work centers, ensuring materials are accurately received, stored, issued, and shipped in alignment with production requirements. The Material Coordinator works under the direction of the Production Supervisor of the Warehouse/Stockroom and collaborates closely with production and support teams to maintain an efficient, accurate, and safe materials operation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform a wide range of material handling activities, including receiving, storing, issuing, and packaging materials with minimal supervision.
  • Load and unload various types of freight from incoming shipments safely and efficiently.
  • Receive and store incoming materials, ensuring accuracy of quantities, lot numbers, expiration dates, and other relevant information in the database.
  • Verify and reconcile incoming materials against associated paperwork such as work orders, packing slips, and bills of lading.
  • Prepare items for shipment by validating identifying information, count, weight, size, and labels as required.
  • Coordinate and monitor workflow for one or more work centers in support of manufacturing and fabrication schedules.
  • Work with cell leaders to monitor work centers using work center dispatch reports, cell takt time analysis, and related materials to ensure on-time start dates and completions.
  • Maintain effective communication and liaison with Materials functions, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, Manufacturing, and operations support departments to understand and comply with schedule requirements.
  • Select specific components as indicated on work orders and update the database to maintain component traceability and inventory accuracy.
  • Perform cycle counts regularly and ensure inventory accuracy levels of at least 95% in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Use ERP systems, RF scan guns, and warehouse data systems (such as WDS or similar) to track inventory, process transactions, and maintain accurate records.
  • Support shipping and receiving operations, including picking, labeling, and packing materials for internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards and safety requirements.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds without assistance and remain on your feet for the majority of the workday.

Essential skills include:

  • Proven experience in material handling, shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations, preferably 3+ years.
  • Strong inventory management skills, including cycle counting and inventory tracking.
  • Ability to accurately perform data entry and maintain database records for quantities, lot numbers, expiration dates, and related information.
  • Experience using RF scan guns and warehouse data systems such as WDS or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for materials and inventory transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate workflow across work centers and support manufacturing schedules.
  • Ability to interpret and work from work orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and related documentation.
  • Capability to lift 40 pounds without assistance and stand for most of the shift.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining at least 95% inventory accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills to maintain effective liaison with cross-functional teams.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Additional skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience in warehouse packing, picking, labeling, and shipping and receiving activities.
  • Previous experience working with climate-controlled manufacturing or warehouse environments.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where overtime may be required.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort learning new warehouse or ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with takt time analysis and work center dispatch reports.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting team goals.

Work is performed primarily on the first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime required in many positions due to a deadline-intensive operation. Safety is a priority, with requirements that include steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection where applicable. The dress code requires closed-toe shoes, long pants, and t-shirts that are appropriate and non-vulgar. This is a contract to hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and benefits:

The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $17.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
