Material HandlerThe Material Handler safely moves, loads, and unloads materials to support production, shipping, and waste management activities in a manufacturing environment. This role operates material handling equipment and hand tools, prepares products for shipment, and maintains accurate documentation in accordance with quality and safety standards. The position works under established procedures and guidelines and plays a key role in ensuring products meet quality, engineering, and customer requirements. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically working Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch break, and starting at 4:00 a.m. on Saturdays as needed.Responsibilities:Perform all duties in accordance with the current Quality Management System, Safety Management System, and internal company requirements.Move, load, and unload materials and products to support production, shipping, and waste management using hand trucks, hoists, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.Operate a sit-down forklift (Hyster) for approximately 80% of the workday to transport materials safely and efficiently.Use hand tools, including electrical and pneumatic powered tools, to support material handling and shipping activities.Construct shipping containers and crates, and prepare products for shipment by crating, banding, and securing materials as required.Inspect products to ensure they conform to quality, engineering, and customer specifications before shipment or further processing.Complete and maintain accurate electronic and paper documentation, including checklists, stamping, blueprints, bar coding, and shipping/receiving system entries.Follow established procedures and guidelines for shipping and receiving to ensure accurate and timely processing of materials.Maintain departmental housekeeping and uphold 5S standards to keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.Assist with general labor tasks in production as needed to support overall operations.Complete additional tasks and projects assigned based on departmental needs.Essential Skills:Experience in material handling, including moving, loading, and unloading materials in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes, including preparing and processing shipments.Ability to operate a sit-down forklift (Hyster) safely and effectively for the majority of the workday.Proficiency using pallet jacks, hand trucks, hoists, and other material handling equipment.Ability to operate hand tools, including electrical and pneumatic powered tools, in a safe and effective manner.Basic math skills to perform measurements, counts, and simple calculations related to material handling and documentation.Basic reading comprehension skills to interpret work instructions, blueprints, and documentation.Ability to read, speak, and understand English to follow safety instructions, procedures, and work orders.Ability to demonstrate safe and effective operation of all required material handling equipment.Capability to work under established procedures and guidelines while maintaining attention to detail and safety.Additional Skills & Qualifications:GED or High School Diploma preferred.Familiarity with electronic documentation systems, including bar coding and shipping/receiving software.Experience working within a Quality Management System and Safety Management System.Knowledge of 5S or similar workplace organization methodologies.Comfort working in a production and general labor environment with varying tasks.Willingness to work occasional Saturday shifts as needed.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from a consistent 40-hour work week and a stable first-shift schedule that supports work-life balance. The dress code requires full-length pants made of sturdy material without holes and the use of steel-toed boots (not provided). Safety glasses, ear plugs, and safety sleeves are provided to support a safe working environment.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Dimas, CA.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
