Material Handler / 1st ShiftMetals USA has an immediate opening for a Material Handler / 1st Shift in our Oakwood, GA facility. The Material Handler / 1st shift, works under limited supervision, performing duties related to the storage and movement of inventory or equipment. The position reports to Group Leader /Shift Supervisor.Hourly Rate: starting at $20/hr + depending on experience.Responsibilities:Receives and returns materials into stock inventory locationsTags materials for proper identificationPulls and assembles customer orders in order of deliveryOperates yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailersOperates cranes to load and unload trailersOperates forklift (5k or 10k) to load and unload trailersLoads and secures material onto truckCompletes and production and quality paperwork; follows shop system data collection procedures.Performs tasks that include grinding and using an oxy fuel torchMaintains work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, including the return of tools and equipment to designated areas.Assures all machine operation centers are timely loaded with material for productionNotifies management of product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions and/or personal injuries.Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Material Handler.Metals USA offers a competitive starting salary and benefits plus upward mobility professional growth.Metals USA provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees w/o regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status or disability.Metals USA is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse.Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDMath skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractionsAbility to understand verbal and written communicationProficient measuring skills and ability to read measuring tapes and micrometersAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and documents, blueprintsIndustrial warehouse experienceExperience working with heavy equipment preferredOverhead crane or forklift experienceDetail oriented with ability to inspect material for qualityMust pass pre-employment drug screenPhysical Demands:Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time ( > 5.5 hours per day)Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bendLift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs.
