Material Handler (1st Shift)The Material Handler is responsible for managing the movement, storage, and dispatch of materials and inventory within the warehouse or production facility. This role supports production, shipping, receiving, and inventory control to ensure materials are available where and when needed, safely and efficiently.Key Responsibilities:Receive incoming materials and inspect for quantity, quality, and condition; report any damage or discrepanciesUnload trucks, trailers, or other delivery vehiclesMove materials to storage areas, production floors, or staging areas using hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipmentPick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment as neededMaintain accurate inventory records, including updating logs, computer systems, or scannersConduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventoriesLabel and organize inventory properly to support easy location and retrievalMaintain cleanliness and safety in work areas — ensure materials are stored safely, aisles are clear, and tools/equipment are properly storedFollow all safety procedures, use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to company policies and OSHA guidelinesAssist in other warehouse tasks as needed (e.g. packing, wrapping, shipping coordination)Qualifications:High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent work experience)Prior warehouse or material handling experience is a plusForklift certification or ability to obtain one is preferredAbility to safely lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds (or specify weight depending on facility needs) frequentlyBasic computer skills (entering data, using inventory systems, scanning devices)Strong attention to detail and ability to organize materials properlyGood communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accuratelyDependable, punctual, capable of working full 1st shift schedulePhysical Requirements:Standing, walking, bending, stooping for long periodsFrequently lifting and moving materialsOperating material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks)Ability to handle repetitive motions and possibly work in varying temperature conditions, depending on warehouse environment
