Material Handler (1st & 2nd Shift)Hot JobPerformance Pet Products - Mitchell, SD 57301OverviewPosition Type: Full Time Job Shift: 1st (Day Shift) Education Level: None Travel Percentage: None Category: Material HandlingDescriptionSchedule1st Shift: Monday-Thursday, 6:00am-4:30pm2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 4:00pm-2:30amFriday hours may be possible on a required or voluntary basisAreas of AccountabilityAll areas of accountability to be delivered with GRIT - our values of Generosity, Relationships, Integrity, and TeamworkInventory & Shipment ManagementEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperate a sit-down and/or stand-up forklift to load/unload trucks and put away product in rackingTransfer finished and unfinished materials (dry goods, meat, pallets, dunnage, cans/lids) between production floor and storageReview bills-of-lading and purchase orders for shipment accuracy; receive in approved materialsComplete daily inspections and paperwork on each piece of equipment usedAssist in gathering materials, prepping orders for shipment, rotating raw materials, and inventory/cycle countsCommunicate effectively and professionally with internal personnel and external visitorsSafely operate yard trucks to move and organize trailers, as neededCollect/drill samples of frozen meat and deliver them to the lab for testing, when neededComplete reports and paperwork in an accurate and timely mannerPerform general housekeeping and ensure all areas of the production floor, loading dock, and warehouse are clean and organizedWork safely and comply with company and regulatory safety/environmental policies, practices and proceduresMaintain regular and predictable on-site attendanceSituations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload.QualificationsExperience in a warehouse or manufacturing facility, desiredExperience operating a forklift, preferred; ability to pass in-house certifications, upon hire, and operate equipment safelyAbility to communicate effectively; accurately and legibly record information on shipping documentsAbility to accurately count and complete basic math operations with a calculatorAbility to perform safety sensitive positionAbility to work in a facility that processes multiple proteins including beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, lamb, rabbit, kangaroo, and eggMust be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposesPhysical RequirementsOperate a sit-down or stand-up forklift up to 75% of the dayConsistently stand and/or walkOccasionally lift and/or push/pull 50 poundsOccasionally kneel or bend at the knees and/or waistAbility to tolerate varying environmental conditions including wet slippery conditions or extreme hot/cold
