Material Control SpecialistOnsiteLocation: Greenville, SC or Houston, TXPay rate: HourlyThis is a full-time W2 position, with no subcontracting or C2C.Overview:Our client is seeking a Material Control Specialist for their Greenville, SC or Houston, TX office. This position has the responsibility for identification of material requirements and preparation of detail material take-offs from drawings where standards, methods, practices, and instructions are not clearly defined or are in the developmental stage. This role supervises a small contract or several small units within a contract or may be required to direct certain activities in a lead role.
Multiple openings; each tied to one discipline: Piping/Plumbing Electrical I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) CSA/FP (Civil, Structural, Architectural / Fire Protection) HVAC/MechanicalResponsibilities:Extracts materials (MTO - Material Take Offs) from discipline drawings (P&IDs, electrical schematics, HVAC layouts, CSA/FP plans). Supports procurement, expediting, logistics, and deliveries to site/fab shop.Interfaces with project teams; may supervise small groups.Provide procurement support and expediting in conformance with project requirementsMonitor and learn the intricacies of material contingencies, logistics analysis, and material management functionsInterface with internal/external clients and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of material controls activities; when requested, provide written/verbal communications with internal and external clientsDevelop logistics and related procedures with Procurement, Construction, Project Controls, and Project to ensure the timely delivery of materials to the job siteAssist field forces during construction, if required monitor material receivables at the job site and at the fabrication shopInterpret piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID), other discipline drawings, and manufacturers catalog dataOther duties as assignedQualifications:Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to nine (9) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirementsAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerPreferred Qualifications:Accredited degree or global equivalent in technologyPossess in-depth knowledge of materials as well as their importance to the overall Material Controls effortUnderstand material contingencies, logistics analysis, and material management functionsAbout our CompanyDataSoft Technologies is a highly recognized provider of professional IT Consulting services in the US.
