Masters Associate Counselor (Master’s-Level, Working
$62,000/year
About Us A Center for Mental Wellness, Inc. has been part of the Dover community
since 2008. We treat and assess every client thoroughly to determine the right course of
care, and when a client’s substance use is part of their story, we address it as part of
one connected treatment plan. If a client’s needs call for expertise beyond what their
treating provider offers, we expect that provider to pursue an internal referral, an
external referral, or consultation right away - getting the client to the right care matters
more than keeping them on any one caseload. We’re building something we think is
different from a typical outpatient practice: small, supported treatment teams (we call
them cohorts) where you’re never the only clinician figuring things out alone. ACFMW is
owned by licensed clinicians, not a venture-backed healthcare group - our owners hold
LPCMH licenses themselves and have done this work firsthand. We built these roles to
be ones we’d genuinely want to work in ourselves.
About the Role We’re hiring a full-time, salaried Masters Associate Counselor working
toward independent licensure. You’ll join a four-person cohort led by an experienced,
licensed Clinical Supervisor, providing individual, group, and family counseling to clients
across the lifespan. This is a master’s-level position - no prior independent licensure
required, since real, structured supervision is built into how the role works, not an
afterthought.
What You’ll Do
- Carry a caseload of individual, group, and family counseling clients - currently, that means a quarterly average of 26–30 billable hours per week. We intentionally keep this realistic rather than requiring 40 hours of billable time like some practices do, since that usually means far more than 40 hours of actual availability once no-shows are factored in. Work-life balance matters to us
- Receive one hour of individual, in-person clinical supervision every week - not occasional check-ins
- Participate in weekly group supervision with your cohort
- Complete progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments with your supervisor’s direct support and sign-off
- If you work with child and adolescent clients, gain access to Registered Play Therapist (RPT) training and supervision, overseen by a Registered Play Therapist–Supervisor (RPT-S) credentialed through the Association for Play Therapy
- Interested in addiction-specific credentialing? ACFMW provides the addiction specific training and supervised clinical hours the Delaware Certification Board requires toward the CADC, CAADC, or CCDP (Co-Occurring Disorders Professional) credentials. You’ll still need to pass the required IC&RC exam yourself, but we make sure the training and supervised hours are there for you along the way
What We’re Looking For
- A master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or
- a related field from an accredited college or university
- A genuine interest in working toward independent licensure with real support behind
- you
- Comfort working as part of a small, collaborative treatment team
Why ACFMW
- Full-time salary, not fee-for-service - your pay isn’t at the mercy of no-shows or a
- slow week
- Real weekly supervision built into your schedule, every week, guaranteed
- A defined path forward: cohort supervision experience is designed to build toward
- future leadership opportunities as you grow with us
- Specialized training tracks (RPT for those working with youth, plus addiction
- credentialing support) most practices in Delaware simply don’t offer
- Monthly rounds with our psychiatric and psychology consultants, plus quarterly
- Grand Rounds - a mini-conference each quarter with multiple presentations and
- discussion topics, complete with an agenda and certificate of attendance. For LCSW
- and LPCMH-level clinicians, this documentation is generally accepted toward
- required continuing education hours for license renewal - meaning a meaningful
- chunk of your CEUs can come from simply being part of our team, not from paying
- out of pocket elsewhere. (CEU acceptance depends on your specific license and
- board.)
