Remote Contract Business Development & Strategy

TS Bank is seeking to hire a Market President forour Corning, Iowa market. The Market President is responsible forcoordinating the banking efforts and activities within a specifiedgeographic market, by working with the organization-wide functionalleader(s) of retail banking, wealth management services, ag banking,and credit risk to ensure a coordinated effort of businessdevelopment, operations, and client services.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year collegeor university in the field of Business Administration, includespecific courses in Accounting, finance, and economics; ten yearsrelated banking experience and/or training; or equivalent combinationof education and experience. In addition, post graduateindustry-specific education (e.g. School of Banking etc.).

Experience and Skills:

  • Integrate, communicate, and accelerate local market strategies,and execute sales and market management activities with a focus onbuilding capabilities through performance management
  • Regularly assess local competition and identify local market opportunities
  • Oversee the development and growth of new business throughexternal business development programs which align with the business plan
  • Manage asset quality of portfolio by partnering closely withcredit partner to ensure effective risk management of the portfolio
  • Manage all aspects of the client relationship including businessgrowth objectives, account maintenance and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure cash management needs are identified and act on opportunities
  • Provide differentiated coaching activities based on performance
  • Comply with all banking and company regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Position may require the ability to work before or after normalbusiness hours, including weekends and overnight travel, to meetrequired deadlines and attend meetings and/or training programs.

  • Directly supervises assigned employees and performs administrativeduties associated with staff management (e.g., trains employees,delegates work and ensures the completion of same, prepares andpublishes work schedule, reviews and approves timesheets, coachesand counsels employees, prepares performance evaluations andconducts evaluation meetings, conducts staff meetings, makes salaryand promotional recommendations, participates in recruitment,interview, and hiring process, administers progressive discipline,takes action regarding departmental activities and staff,approves/disapproves requests for leave time, notifies employees ofmandatory training and bank meetings). Carry out supervisoryresponsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies andapplicable laws.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure a coordinated approach toenhancing the client relationship
  • Utilize a "hands on approach" for developing bankingrelationships of present and potential clients. Through theinterview process ascertain the right product for the borrower anddepositor. Maintain knowledge of all the bank products and servicesto achieve comprehensive cross selling through qualified referralsto all areas of the bank.
  • Work with the Director of Community Reinvestment on various bankfinancial donations and activities to various organizations with inthe specified geographic market. Monitor bank personnel’sinvolvement in community organizations and non-profit agencies toensure the bank is appropriately represented.
  • Work with the leader of credit risk (CCO) to originate, underwriteand close secured and unsecured commercial; agricultural andconsumer loans in accordance with established credit objectives,policies and procedures; establish and maintain positiverelationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Pre-screen loan client prospects, identifying credit risk/needsand determine alignment with our expertise, performance, andprofitability expectations. Assigns qualifying prospects torelationship manager best suited for prospect based upon area ofexpertise, level of experience and abilities in relation to theprospects needs.
  • Work closely with the bank’s credit relationship managers, creditanalysts, and credit operations in underwriting loan requests intocredit packages for appropriate approval; includes training,coaching, mentoring, overseeing, and evaluating team members inregard to credit underwriting, servicing, analysis, collections,loan structure/terms, collateral attachment/perfection,presentations and completion of loan documents.
  • Utilize government programs when deemed necessary to meet client'scredit needs.
  • Actively participates in the bank’s credit committee meetings.
  • Strive diligently to work with relationship managers to have themmaintain a quality portfolio with minimal delinquency. Counsel withrelationship managers and borrowers and recommend remedies toresolve delinquencies. Work through troubles and seriouslydelinquent loans. Participate in the collection procedures andprocesses of the relationship officers to assure the timelycollection of all delinquent accounts and develop revised loanrepayment terms or schedules as necessary.
  • If employee performs duties and activities that qualify them as aMortgage Loan Originator, they will be required to meet allrequirements to comply with the SAFE Act.
  • Will be more focused on the commercial banking, cash management,and the lending functions in the geographic market, while workingwith the organization-wide functional leader(s) on other functions.
  • Provide input to direct supervisor and CEO on the overallmanagement direction and control of all market functions.
  • Participate in the bank’s business development activities topromote the bank’s products and services and ensure the maintenanceof the bank’s favorable image by representing the bank in civic,business, industry and social events and maintaining contact withpresent and potential banking clients. Regularly make out of thebank business calls on existing and potential clients.
  • Keep abreast of all growth and business opportunities in themarket place and recommend to the CEO those opportunities whichappear most beneficial to the bank in terms of potential growth and profitability.
  • Lead the commercial/business relationship manager team in thebank’s business development activities in a specified geographicmarket through accountability standards set forth within the bank’ssales managed environment, that is focused on growth of loans,deposits, and cash management services; along with an eye towardsreferral business to the retail and wealth management teams.Generate and maintain a credit portfolio that can be effectivelymanaged in addition to the managerial/strategic duties of the MarketPresident role.
  • Work with the leader of wealth management services and seniorleadership in the specified geographic market to ensure acoordinated effort of business development, operations, and clientservices between the retail and commercial areas of the bank.
