Market Clinical Director
The Market Clinical Director will directly supervise, performance manage and train Clinical Directors within his/her assigned market. The incumbent is accountable for center performance objectives, P&L, growth, and culture. In addition to overseeing clinical outcomes, a portion of the time is allocated to direct patient care as a PCP and/or other clinical duties, while the remainder focuses on leadership responsibilities including engagement, culture, and clinical‑operations synergy.
Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Direct clinical outcomes and day‑to‑day management of Medical Directors in multiple centers.
- Ensure successful clinical operations and meet/exceed plan market earnings.
- Mentor and coach Medical Directors to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes.
- Facilitate talent development of PCPs, NPs, and Medical Directors (coaching, 1:1s, leadership plans).
- Cultivate a center‑level physician culture aligned with the ChenMed core model.
- Participate in recruiting and interviewing PCP and specialist candidates.
- Partner with Clinical COE and Talent Acquisition to support clinical talent lifecycle.
- Establish and support relationships with payers, specialists, community, and hospitals.
- Respond urgently to workplace concerns to maintain market culture.
- Review and approve center‑level referrals and provide backup for delegated utilization authorizations.
- Assist the Regional President with market quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Other duties as assigned and modified at Regional President’s discretion may include: market quality analysis, training of other ChenMed entities, deep relationships with providers and stakeholders, local market initiatives, cost reduction strategy implementation, and acting as a PCP (20%).

- Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally up to 30%.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Education and Experience Criteria
- MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar specialty (required).
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience; 5 years preferred.
- Two (2) years experience as Medical Director or equivalent with Medicare or Medicaid patient population (preferred).
- Board eligibility required; board certification preferred.
- Active medical license in state of employment.
- High‑performing physician with clinical leadership track record.
- Experience with population risk management or chronic disease care management.
- Experience with interdisciplinary quality improvement or medical/healthcare leadership (preferred).
- Preferred to be an existing high‑performing PCP partner or Medical Director with proven panel management (>400 patients).
- Preferred to have been with organization >2 years and be recognized leader among peers.
Pay Range
$270,461 – $386,372 Salary
