Collaborate with cross-functional teams for meaningful contributions.Job DescriptionMarket & Reference Data – Principal OverviewThe Market & Reference Data – Principal role offers an exciting opportunity to lead critical data functions within a dynamic investment environment.Drive strategic data transformation initiatives, enhancing data quality, governance, and AI enablement across the organization.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and management of market and reference data.Contribute to the modernization of data platforms and frameworks, supporting advanced analytics and operational excellence.Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and optimize market data budgets for maximum ROI.Shape the firm’s market data strategy, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs and industry trends.Lead a high-impact team focused on security master, reference data, and data governance functions.Contribute to the firm’s mission of delivering resilient investment solutions across market cycles.This hybrid role combines hands-on leadership with strategic oversight, offering professional growth and impactful contributions.Market & Reference Data – Principal Key Responsibilities & DutiesOwn end-to-end governance of the firm’s security master, ensuring data accuracy and completeness across all financial instruments.Develop and enforce data quality controls, exception management, and reconciliation processes across the data lifecycle.Establish and maintain market data standards, models, and workflows, supporting trading, portfolio management, and reporting.Lead the firm’s market data strategy, integrating real-time and end-of-day data feeds across asset classes.Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure data capabilities meet evolving business requirements.Collaborate with stakeholders across research, operations, risk, and technology to align data solutions with business outcomes.Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee budget forecasting and tracking.Contribute to data transformation initiatives, including AI enablement and platform modernization projects.Ensure compliance with licensing terms and redistribution policies for market data usage.Market & Reference Data – Principal Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, or related field required.7–10 years of experience in market and reference data within financial services, with 3+ years in management roles.Expertise in security master and market data domains, including major provider content sets across asset classes.Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts effectively.Experience leading data transformation initiatives, including data quality and governance programs.Familiarity with private markets and alternatives reference data preferred.Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and governance tools such as Snowflake and Collibra.CFA, CIPM, or DAMA-CDMP certifications are advantageous.Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and technologists.
