Manufacturing Supervisor (Drug Substance) – 3rd Shift

We are hiring a Manufacturing Supervisor (Drug Substance) to join our growing biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations in Chicago, IL. This is a hands-on supervisory role on 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM), responsible for overseeing biologics production processes in a cGMP-regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support day-to-day manufacturing operations, including media/buffer preparation
- Chromatography column setup and operation
- Aseptic final filtration of intermediates and drug substances
- Monitor and troubleshoot production processes and equipment (PLC/HMI, pH, conductivity, spectroscopy)
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of batch records, deviations, change controls, and CAPAs
- Train, mentor, and manage direct reports to ensure adherence to cGMP and safety standards
- Drive shift engagement, performance reviews, and cross-shift communication
- Coordinate with QA, PD, Validation, and Supply Chain to support production readiness and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field with 5+ years of biopharma manufacturing experience, or Master’s with 2+ years of experience, or 5–10 years of equivalent industry experience
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred
- Strong background in upstream or downstream biologics manufacturing
- Proficiency in GMP documentation, batch records, and compliance
- Comfortable working overnight (10 PM – 6 AM, 3rd shift) and ensuring shift handovers
