This position oversees production workers, ensures compliance with quality and safety standards, drives operational efficiency, and meets on-time delivery goals. The supervisor also supports warehouse functions including shipping and receiving, working cross-functionally to maximize plant performance and deliver consistent, high-quality products.
This role requires strong leadership skills, production floor experience, and the ability to oversee a diverse, unionized workforce. The supervisor works closely with production, quality, warehouse, and maintenance teams to maintain operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Leadership (80%)Lead, coach, and supervise production workers in a 24/7 food manufacturing environment.Oversee daily operations including scheduling, task assignment, efficiency monitoring, and real-time troubleshooting.Ensure production of safe, high-quality food products in compliance with Federal, State, and Safeway (Albertsons) regulations.Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles to improve production efficiencies and eliminate waste.Develop and drive short-term and long-term plant goals and production action plans.Promote cost-saving initiatives and process/efficiency improvements.Shipping & Receiving Support (20%)Overlap responsibilities with warehouse operations.Assist with receiving, staging, inventory movement, and outbound shipments.Support alignment between production output and warehouse logistics.Regulatory & SafetyMaintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, and other applicable regulations.Ensure adherence to facility safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.Support audits and compliance reviews as required.Communication & Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and plant leadership to solve operational challenges.Foster a work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.Communicate performance expectations and provide coaching and development to employees.Technology & ReportingUtilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other plant applications to track, monitor, and report on production metrics.Leverage new technology and automation to optimize plant efficiency.Required Qualifications & SkillsBachelor's degree preferred (manager will consider relevant work experience in place of degree).Minimum 2+ years of leadership/supervisory experience in a production environment.1+ year of Lean Manufacturing experience required.Food manufacturing experience highly preferred.Experience leading a unionized workforce strongly preferred.Strong ability to manage, coach, and develop employees.Must be willing to work scheduled hours, including weekends.Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to learn additional systems/applications.
