Position Summary
The Manufacturing Process & Quality Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, maintaining production quality systems, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives for plastic injection molding, blow molding, and assembly operations. This position applies engineering principles to analyze manufacturing performance, optimize production processes, investigate quality issues, validate manufacturing changes, and implement corrective actions that improve product quality, production efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
The position requires technical knowledge of manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, statistical analysis, automotive quality systems, and process optimization in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Analyze manufacturing processes and production performance to identify opportunities for improving product quality, process capability, equipment utilization, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing process controls and quality systems for injection molding, blow molding, and assembly operations.
• Perform engineering analysis of production data using ERP and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platforms to identify process variation, quality trends, and production improvement opportunities.
• Lead root cause investigations of production defects, customer complaints, process deviations, and manufacturing nonconformities using structured engineering problem-solving methodologies.
• Develop and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring quality issues and improve manufacturing process stability.
• Monitor manufacturing process capability using Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques and recommend engineering improvements to reduce process variation.
• Support new product launches by participating in process validation, production trials, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan development, and manufacturing readiness activities.
• Evaluate engineering changes and manufacturing process modifications to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering standards, and automotive quality requirements.
• Support supplier quality improvement activities by analyzing incoming material quality issues, coordinating corrective actions, and verifying implementation effectiveness.
• Conduct internal process audits and manufacturing quality assessments to ensure compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and company quality management systems.
• Prepare engineering reports, manufacturing process analyses, quality performance metrics, technical documentation, and management presentations supporting operational decision-making.
• Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives that increase manufacturing efficiency, reduce scrap, improve first-pass yield, and enhance overall production reliability.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production quality systems, and engineering problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or quality engineering within an industrial manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to analyze manufacturing data and apply engineering principles to improve production performance.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and production teams.
