Painter
Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings, other structures, and/or equipment. A majority of time in the paint department will be in the Blast Booth. Blaster is required to wear a full body enclosed suit with supplied air.
Schedule:
- Regular full-time hours.
- Overtime may be available, especially at the end of the month or quarter, but is not required.
- Hours are 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Apply coatings such as paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to protect and finish surfaces.
- Work primarily in a blast booth to remove rust, old paint, and debris from metal parts.
- Prepare surfaces using sandpaper, brushes, steel wool, scrapers, or other tools.
- Follow work orders and instructions from supervisors to complete jobs accurately.
- Ensure surfaces are clean and smooth before painting.
Training & Work Flow
- You'll start working full-time in the blast booth until you're fully trained.
- Over time, you'll transition into painting, with a goal of spending no more than 50% of your time blasting.
- No prior experience required — we'll train the right person. Must be aware that role is physically demanding. The hose has a lot of air/blast media going through it and the operator has to control it.
Must Haves
- Painter or painting and surface preparation experience, including sanding, scraping, and removing old coatings.
- Blast booth/abrasive blasting experience and ability to wear a full-body supplied-air protective suit.
