What You'll Do
- Develop accurate cost estimates for machining, fabrication, stamping, and welding projects
- Review engineering drawings, models, and specifications to determine materials, labor, and processes
- Define manufacturing methods, routing steps, setup/run times, and tooling requirements
- Prepare detailed quotes including materials, outside services, and lead times
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and purchasing to validate costs
- Communicate with customers to clarify project requirements and timelines
- Maintain estimating templates, quote logs, and cost data for consistency
- 3+ years of experience in estimating or manufacturing engineering
- Background in metal stamping, machining, fabrication, or welding
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers
- Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software
- Knowledge of outside processing (plating, coating, heat treating, etc.)
- Familiarity with material utilization, nesting, or multi-process estimating
- Experience with post-job cost analysis and continuous improvement
