Manufacturing Engineer Manager – Louisville, KY
BAE Systems, Inc. seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer Manager to lead and develop a team, oversee and improve manufacturing processes, and drive continuous improvement for naval defense industry products.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and quality.
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and documentation for large and heavy defense industry products.
- Collaborate with design, procurement, and production to ensure smooth production flow.
- Monitor and analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Partner with the Quality team to implement quality control processes and maintain safe working environments.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and tools to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Oversee implementation of new equipment, technologies, and automation systems.
- Manage the manufacturing engineering budget and optimize cost control.
- Source and evaluate new technologies, materials, and equipment in collaboration with suppliers and vendors.
- Provide technical support and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing issues and optimize production output.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience (or equivalent education/experience).
- At least 4 years of progressive leadership with expertise in welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW), assembly processes, and electrical/mechanical/hydraulic systems.
- Experience with CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor).
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
- Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) or Certified Professional Engineer (PE).
- Defense industry or highly regulated sector experience.
- Experience with Industry 4.0 Technologies, MES, and ERP integration.
- Process ownership and optimization of welding and assembly processes.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Strong project management and cross‑functional team leadership.
Pay Information
Full‑time salary range: $136,000 – $231,200.
