Why This Role Exists

Colinear Aerospace continues to expand its aerospace machining capabilities and requires a Manufacturing Engineer who can act as the technical bridge between engineering and production .

This role exists to improve how parts are made - reducing cycle time, improving yield, supporting new programs, and ensuring machining processes meet the strict requirements of AS9100 aerospace manufacturing.

This is a hands-on, shop-floor-facing role , not a desk-only engineering position.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing methods, routers, and process documentation
  • Create, optimize, and support CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and lathes
  • Troubleshoot machining and process issues directly on the production floor
  • Support estimating and quoting through DFM analysis, manufacturing methods, and BOM input
  • Collaborate with machinists, programmers, quality, and leadership to improve efficiency and part quality
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, and repeatability

You'll have real ownership over how aerospace components move from print to production.

Machines, Controls & Software

You'll work with equipment and systems including:

Machines: CNC Mills & Lathes (3-, 4-, and 5-axis)
Controls: Fanuc / Haas / similar (depending on cell)
CAD: SolidWorks
CAM: ESPRIT (or equivalent)
ERP: JobBOSS
Inspection & Quality: AS9100 documentation, FAIs, in-process inspection

Materials You'll Work With

  • Titanium
  • Inconel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Aluminum

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field
  • 5-7+ years of experience in aerospace or high-precision machining environments
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of CNC mills and lathes, multi-axis machining, and tooling
  • Proficiency reading complex blueprints and applying GD&T
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks), CAM (ESPRIT or similar), and ERP systems (JobBOSS preferred)
  • Strong understanding of AS9100 requirements and documentation
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot machining processes and support production
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Prior CNC programming background
  • Experience with SMED, lean manufacturing, or automation initiatives
  • Leadership or mentoring experience in a manufacturing environment

30-90 Day Success Expectations

First 30-90 Days

  • Demonstrate proficiency in JobBOSS, SolidWorks, and ESPRIT workflows
  • Independently set up and troubleshoot machining issues across multiple machines
  • Complete machine setups within 20% of quoted setup time
  • Implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve quality

Why Engineers & Machinists Like Working Here

  • True collaboration between engineering and the shop floor
  • Aerospace work where precision and process discipline matter
  • Clean, organized AS9100-certified facility
  • Investment in modern equipment, tooling, and software
  • A team culture that respects experience, accountability, and craftsmanship

Pay & Benefits
