Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Our client is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives within a refrigerator manufacturing environment. This is a 6-month contract opportunity based onsite in Shelbyville, KY, with the potential to transition into a full-time position upon completion of the contract.

The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing engineering background, experience with Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives, and the ability to turn ideas into practical solutions on the production floor. This individual should be mechanically inclined, comfortable working with their hands, and capable of independently designing, building, and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes and equipment.

Day-to-Day

• Lead and support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Identify opportunities to optimize production processes, workflows, and equipment.
• Take manufacturing improvement ideas from concept through hands-on development, building, testing, and implementation.
• Design, build, and modify fixtures, tooling, workstations, and other equipment to support manufacturing operations.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and manufacturing challenges directly on the production floor.
• Partner with production, engineering, and operations teams to identify and resolve manufacturing inefficiencies.
• Implement process improvements that reduce waste, improve safety, and increase production efficiency.
• Support the manufacturing and assembly of refrigeration equipment.
• Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and recommend practical, cost-effective improvements.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or a similar hands-on manufacturing role.
• Strong understanding of Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to independently build, modify, and implement manufacturing solutions.
• Experience designing or fabricating fixtures, tooling, workstations, or production equipment.
• Ability to take an idea or manufacturing challenge and develop a practical, working solution.
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and improving production processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Experience in appliance manufacturing, refrigeration equipment, or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with production and engineering teams.
• Ability to work fully onsite in Shelbyville, KY.
