Manufacturing EngineerApply knowledge of manufacturing technology, materials and engineering theory and methods to design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems and related equipment and processes. Integrate new production equipment and products, increase productivity, manufacturing performance and cost effectiveness of current products and systems.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, fixtures and tooling as relevant to meet job objectives.Identify and recommend resolutions for existing or imminent manufacturing problems, equipment failures or safety issues.Investigate, prepare and recommend manufacturing cost reduction and product improvement programs.Participate in the review and evaluation of product design changes.Coordinate with support groups to ensure manufacturability, process capabilities and capacities are developed to support new products.Develop, monitor and report on project schedules and establish Standard Operating Procedures for new and updated manufacturing equipment and systems.Working as part of cross functional teams, sustain current production by providing support for quality issues, production equipment problems and part documentation errors by determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.May develop manufacturing operating instructions or procedures and may train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications.Coordinate with vendors, customers and other departments during the course of completing assignments.Requires 3 to 5 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline.Requires a Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience.Skills and knowledge requirementsExperience and knowledge of injection molding automation and assembly automation systems design and construction.Knowledge of industrial controls electronics, PLC and robotic programming, design and troubleshooting.Knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques, equipment and processesKnowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniquesKnowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans blueprints, drawings and modelsMust be able to read, write, and speak English adequately to understand and develop work instructionsKnowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools is requiredCAD proficiency/design background is a plusPhysical requirementsThis position requires hands-on work on the manufacturing floorExtended periods of standing and/or walking, moderate lifting, and reasonable mobility are requiredMust be able to handle and manipulate a variety of hand tools and partsCandidates must be a "US Person" (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations
