nThe Manufacturing Job Specific Requirements
nManufacturing Engineer is a key member of the Manufacturing Operations team responsible for supporting daily production, improving manufacturing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with Operations, Quality, Materials, Maintenance, and Engineering to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity (SQDCP) performance.
nThe ideal candidate is a highly motivated problem solver who enjoys working on the manufacturing floor, analyzing data, implementing improvements, and leading cross-functional projects that increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
nKey Responsibilities
nProduction Support:
nProvide daily engineering support to manufacturing operations.
nTroubleshoot equipment, tooling, process, and assembly issues impacting production.
nLead root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
nSupport launch and stabilization of new products, processes, and equipment.
nPartner with Operations and Maintenance teams to improve equipment uptime and process reliability.
nContinuous Improvement:
nLead Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
nIdentify opportunities to improve labor efficiency, throughput, quality, safety, and ergonomics.
nApply Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and optimize workflow.
nDevelop and implement visual management, standard work, and sustainment systems.
nDrive annual cost reduction and productivity initiatives.
nProcess Engineering:
nAnalyze manufacturing processes, cycle times, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints.
nDevelop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, layouts, and standard work.
nParticipate in line balancing, labor utilization studies, and workflow improvements.
nSupport implementation of manufacturing systems, automation, and digital tools.
nDevelop equipment and tooling improvement plans and support capital projects.
nQuality & Safety:
nEnsure compliance with Client's safety standards and OSHA requirements.
nPartner with Quality to improve FPY, reduce defects, and eliminate recurring quality escapes.
nSupport PFMEA, control plan, and process validation activities.
nPromote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
nProject Leadership:
nLead cross-functional projects from concept through implementation.
nDevelop project plans, timelines, ROI analyses, and progress updates.
nCoordinate activities between Operations, Quality, Materials, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams.
nPresent project results and recommendations to plant leadership.
nRequired Qualifications:
nBachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
nMinimum 2 years of engineering, manufacturing, operations, or related experience.
nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.
nAbility to lead projects and influence cross-functional teams.
nEffective verbal and written communication skills.
nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
nPreferred Qualifications:
nExperience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and root cause problem solving.
nExperience with line balancing, capacity analysis, labor standards, and workflow optimization.
nExperience with PLC-controlled equipment, automation systems, or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
nFamiliarity with AutoCAD or manufacturing layout development.
nExperience supporting capital projects and equipment installations.
nDemonstrated ability to drive measurable operational improvements.
nSuccess Measures
nSuccess will be measured by:
nSafety performance within assigned area.
nImprovement in First Pass Yield (FPY) and quality metrics.
nReduction in downtime, scrap, and rework.
nImproved labor productivity and schedule attainment.
nCompletion and sustainment of continuous improvement projects.
