Job Description

Apparatus Manufacturing is seeking a dependable individual to assist with sheet metal fabrication, finishing, assembly, and general production activities at our manufacturing facility in Poughkeepsie, NY.

This is a hands-on shop position involving the handling and finishing of metal components, installing hardware, preparing parts for shipment, and assisting with manufacturing equipment.

This is a production-floor position, not an office or administrative role.

The work involves using hand tools, following manufacturing instructions, performing repetitive tasks when necessary, and checking finished parts for quality.

Previous manufacturing experience is not required. We will provide training on the equipment and processes used in our shop.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Metal Part Finishing
-Remove sharp edges and burrs from fabricated sheet metal components.
-Use appropriate hand tools and finishing equipment after training.
-Inspect parts for sharp edges, scratches, and other visible defects.
-Handle finished components carefully to prevent damage.

Hardware Installation and Assembly
-Install hardware such as nuts, studs, and other fasteners into sheet metal
components.
-Use hardware installation equipment after training.
-Follow job instructions to ensure correct hardware placement.
-Check completed parts for proper installation.

Production and Machine Assistance
-Load and unload metal components from CNC manufacturing equipment after
training and authorization.
-Assist machine operators with basic production tasks.
-Organize and move parts between manufacturing operations.
-Follow shop procedures and equipment safety requirements.

Part Cleaning, Inspection, and Packaging
-Clean manufactured components and prepare them for the next operation or
shipment.
-Perform basic visual quality checks according to job instructions.
-Package completed parts carefully to prevent damage.
-Verify that parts are organized and prepared according to production
requirements.

General Shop Responsibilities
-Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized.
-Follow manufacturing instructions and established quality procedures.
-Report damaged parts, incorrect materials, or other quality concerns.
-Assist with additional production tasks as needed.

Physical and Work Environment

This position involves working in an active sheet metal manufacturing shop.

Employees may be required to:

Stand and move around the production area during assigned tasks.

Handle sheet metal components of different sizes and weights.

Use basic hand tools and manufacturing equipment.

Perform repetitive finishing and assembly operations.

Lift parts or materials weighing up to 50 pounds when needed.

Wear required personal protective equipment and follow shop safety procedures.

Work Schedule

Typically 2 3 days per week.

Flexible scheduling available, including shorter workdays or fewer full workdays.

Monday through Friday, with daytime and afternoon/evening scheduling options.

Potential shift option from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Specific days and hours will be discussed based on availability and production needs.

No weekend work required.

Compensation and Training

Starting pay of $18.00 per hour.
