Job Description Job Description Position Summary
The Manufacturing Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, fitting, testing, troubleshooting, and inspection of precision mechanical and electro-mechanical products supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial manufacturing programs. This position requires a skilled tradesperson capable of interpreting engineering drawings, assembling complex components, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring products meet strict quality and customer specifications.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical components from engineering drawings, work instructions, and assembly procedures.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic presses, arbor presses, torque tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Perform precision fitting, drilling, tapping, reaming, fastening, staking, riveting, bonding, and press-fit operations.
  • Install bearings, bushings, seals, pins, fasteners, springs, electrical connectors, and other precision components.
  • Perform soldering, wiring, cable termination, and basic electrical assembly when required.
  • Conduct continuity, resistance, insulation, functional, and operational testing using multimeters, test fixtures, and specialized testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify defective parts, nonconforming materials, and process improvements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly prints, bills of material (BOMs), and military specifications.
  • Maintain accurate production records and inspection documentation.
  • Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments including:
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Height gauges
    • Pin gauges
    • Thread gauges
    • Torque measuring devices
  • Work closely with Engineering, Machining, Quality, and Production departments to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas following 5S principles.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and DoD manufacturing requirements.
Qualifications Required
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or assembly experience.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred
  • Experience with Department of Defense manufacturing.
  • IPC soldering experience.
  • Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic assemblies.
  • Experience assembling machined aluminum and steel components.
  • Familiarity with military specifications and quality systems.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.
  • Basic computer skills for production documentation.
