Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable CDL Driver to join our lumber yard team. The ideal candidate must be proficient in operating manual-transmission commercial trucks and comfortable delivering lumber and building materials to customers and job sites. This position requires safe driving, proper load handling, and excellent customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate manual-transmission CDL trucks to transport lumber and building materials.
- Deliver materials to residential, commercial, and construction job sites.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Verify delivery tickets, load quantities, and delivery locations before leaving the yard.
- Ensure lumber and materials are properly loaded, secured, and protected during transportation.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials when required.
- Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and required DOT documentation.
- Follow all DOT, company, and safety regulations .
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, dispatchers, and lumber yard staff.
- Report vehicle maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
- Assist with general lumber yard duties as needed.
- Valid CDL Class A or Class B , depending on company truck requirements.
- Must be experienced and comfortable driving a manual-transmission commercial truck.
- Clean or acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
- Previous delivery, lumber yard, building materials, construction, or similar driving experience preferred.
- Ability to safely secure loads using straps, chains, binders, or other required equipment.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds as needed.
- Ability to climb in and out of commercial trucks throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
