Manual Mill OperatorPay: $17.00 – $21.00/hour Openings: 1 Shifts: 1stThe Manual Mill Operator will observe milling and plaining machine operation and adjust controls to ensure conformance with specified tolerances. This position reports directly to the designated shift supervisor.Job DutiesPosition and secure workpieces on machines, using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools and hoists.Remove workpieces from machines, and check to ensure that they conform to specifications, using measuring instruments such as microscopes, gauges, calipers, and micrometers.Verify alignment of workpieces on machines, using measuring instruments such as rules, gauges, or calipers.Move cutters or material manually or by turning handwheels or engage automatic feeding mechanisms to mill workpieces to specifications.Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.Controlling operations of equipment or systems.Align parts or workpieces to ensure proper assembly.Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed.Verify conformance of machined work to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, or fixed or telescoping gauges.Study machining instructions, job orders, or blueprints to determine dimensional or finish specifications, sequences of operations, setups, or tooling requirements.Change worn cutting tools, using wrenches.Select and set cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools, according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties.Install tools in spindles.Understanding of required PPE (how to select and why it is required)Exhibit proper donning of PPE dailyReport safety hazards to supervision/mgt.Attend monthly all shop meetingsRequirementsExperience using hand toolsAbility to follow oral and written work ordersActive listening skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsDesire to be proactive while creating a positive work environmentAbility to multi task effectively and prioritize as neededAbility to adapt to changes adequatelyStrong organizational skillsAttention to detailCritical Thinking SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalentPhysical Requirements:The ability to respond quickly to sounds.The ability to see and respond to dangerous situation.The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly.The ability to stand continuously throughout the duration of the shift.The ability to lift 70 lbsThe ability to withstand working in varying temperatures.Nesco Resource offers a comprehensive benefits package for our associates, which includes a MEC (Minimum Essential Coverage) plan that encompasses Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services.
