Head of ETF Market Making - Equity & Derivatives - New York - $2m USD
This one's rare. Not a "run a desk" role. A "build the future of a business" role.
One of my clients who are a large multinational Bank, have built a genuinely centralized trading platform (multi-asset, all businesses under one roof, not siloed) and are looking for the most senior person on their ETF side in the US. Full ownership of the desk. Existing team leaders stay in place and report in. And this isn't the ceiling, it's the floor.
Why this role is different:
- Scope. You're not inheriting a legacy book, you're inheriting momentum. Fixed income and derivatives build-out sit under this remit too, scope isn't boxed in.
- Global reach. Post-hire, you'll be working directly with senior leadership on a Europe/Asia expansion plan. Global footprint, not just US.
- Timing. Derivative-based ETFs are taking off right now. This platform is positioned to own that growth, not chase it.
- Structure. The trading business here is built on a genuinely buy-side model. Partners with internal flow but isn't captive to it. Trades with everyone. Rare structure, deliberately protected by leadership.
Who they want:
- Proven track record. Done this before in the US, not a first-timer. Someone who inspires confidence beyond their own desk.
- Sharp on trading and engineering, but equally strong on relationships and communication. That combination is genuinely rare.
- Range across fixed income, equity and derivatives is ideal.
- Doesn't need to trade personally day to day. The value is in building the group and shaping the business plan.
- This is not a sales or distribution role. This is a builder's seat.
Compensation: MD base $350k. Total comp is candidate-dependent but in the $2mm USD range - but budget flexes further for the right profile.
