We are looking for a Manager of Site Reliability Engineering to join our team. The role requires a highly engaged leader who is obsessed with software engineering, reliability, monitoring, and incident management, and who can develop a world‑class Site Reliability team. While this is a management position, the ideal candidate will also be able to lead by example when necessary and will have a strong influence on the design and architecture across the enterprise.
What You Will Do
- Help staff and lead a team of enthusiastic, highly motivated SREs to enhance our posture on monitoring and observability.
- Participate in ground‑up infrastructure design and planning for all future products and services.
- Apply an "everything‑as‑code" philosophy across configuration, infrastructure, and orchestration methodologies to ensure our production systems are fault tolerant and resilient.
- Implement a Test Driven Development approach for the Site Reliability organization.
- Work with product development teams to define and implement enhanced monitoring and logging solutions to improve observability and enable Service‑Level Objectives, ensuring a world‑class customer experience.
- Be part of an on‑call rotation and act as incident commander to assist in resolving incidents.
- Host blameless post‑mortems to share learnings, discover gaps, embrace transparency, and improve reliability across our services.
- Design and implement improvements to existing systems after reviewing past incidents and employ your systems knowledge to triage problems and tune resource usage.
Who We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- 5+ years’ recent experience managing direct reports, resulting in strong people‑management skills with a proven ability to hire, coach, and grow talent within your team(s).
- Must understand what the "Golden Signals" are, why they matter, and how to properly leverage tooling to measure them.
- AWS Professional Certification or demonstrable similar experience.
- Advanced proficiency in any of the following: Java, Go, C#/C++, Python.
- Advanced knowledge in database, queries, and performance optimization.
- Advanced proficiency with IAC/CM tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt).
- Advanced proficiency with containers and related technologies such as Docker, Podman, Swarm, Kubernetes in a production environment.
- Expertise in networking, protocols, servers, storage systems, and the Linux operating system.
