As Receiving Manager, you'll deepen your expertise in inventory control, vendor accountability, logistics coordination, and shrink reduction while working closely with store leadership and department managers.

We support team members who take ownership, improve processes, and grow their operational leadership skills within our organization.Key Responsibilities:Receiving & Inspection Receive all incoming deliveries for grocery, perishable, and non-food itemsInspect shipments for accuracy, quality, and damageVerify purchase orders against packing slips and invoicesNote discrepancies and report immediately to Store Manager or department leadsRefuse and document any out-of-spec or unauthorized deliveriesProduct Organization & Distribution Properly label and date all incoming productsOrganize and store products in correct temperature zones (cooler, freezer, dry storage)Stage and distribute items to departments quickly and efficientlyAssist departments in locating or retrieving deliveries when neededDocumentation & Systems Maintain accurate receiving logs and vendor delivery sheetsEnter received inventory into store systems (if applicable)File signed packing slips and purchase orders for recordkeepingTrack product issues, vendor performance, and rejectionsInventory Support Monitor backstock levels and communicate inventory concerns to department managersAssist with periodic inventory counts as neededHelp identify expired or slow-moving products in storage areasReduce shrink by rotating inventory and ensuring FIFO is followedSafety & Cleanliness Keep receiving area clean, clear, and hazard-free at all timesFollow safety procedures for lifting, equipment use, and refrigerated storageBreak down boxes, dispose of packaging, and recycle materials properlyEnsure compliance with all sanitation and food safety standardsTeam Leadership Hire, train, schedule, and supervise receiving associatesProvide coaching, support, and performance evaluationsMonitor department attendance and ensure associates adhere to scheduled shifts and company timekeeping policies, addressing any attendance or punctuality concerns promptly and consistentlyFollow up on performance or attendance issues with proper documentation and corrective action when necessary, including disciplinary action forms, notes to file, and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) to support accountability and improvement within the departmentConduct daily pre-shift meetings to align team on goals and quality standardsPromote a culture of organization, cleanliness, urgency, accountability, and prideCommunication & Coordination Coordinate delivery windows with vendors and departmentsCommunicate product issues or shortages to buyers and store leadershipBuild strong relationships with drivers and vendors for smooth operationsStay informed on department needs to better anticipate deliveriesQualifications:Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in receiving, inventory, warehouse, or logistics operations within a grocery, supermarket, foodservice, or food distribution environment is requiredExperience receiving perishable food products and maintaining proper product quality, temperature control, and inventory rotation (FIFO) is strongly preferredKnowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper storage requirements for refrigerated, frozen, and dry goodsAbility to accurately read and verify purchase orders, invoices, and packing slipsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environmentBasic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and inventory or receiving systemsExperience using handheld scanners or inventory management devices preferredAble to safely lift and move products and work in cooler, freezer, and warehouse environmentsReliable, punctual, and able to work early mornings or flexible schedulesPhysical & Work EnvironmentThis role is performed in warehouse, receiving dock, cooler, and freezer environments and requires extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, and organizing deliveries throughout the shift. The Receiving Manager must be able to safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds and work in varying temperatures, including cold storage areas. The environment is fast-paced and logistics-focused, requiring strong time management, attention to detail, and physical stamina.
