Overview

The Manager, Radiation Therapy oversees the day‑to‑day technical operations of the Radiation Therapy department, ensuring delivery of cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care services while managing staff, resources, and budgetary functions.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and facilitate patient flow within the department, ensuring resources accommodate safe patient care and cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other Radiation Oncology leadership to achieve targets, goals, and standardized practices across the enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures aligned with regulatory and departmental standards.
  • Ensure correct charge capture and documentation, providing education on billing and documentation for simulation and treatment.
  • Maintain current knowledge of radiation oncology treatment & modality techniques.
  • Maintain current knowledge of radiation oncology billing and coding practices.
  • Monitor expenses for cost centers, review budget reports monthly, and reconcile expenses.
  • Maintain statistics and reports on department data.
  • Analyze referral, volume, revenue, and patient satisfaction data to monitor performance and identify gaps; strategize new technology or programs.
  • Continuously monitor workflow and processes for opportunities to improve quality, safety, and efficiency using A3 thinking and PDCA.
  • Establish and maintain performance standards meeting all regulatory requirements; hold team accountable.
  • Exercise control over supply inventory, storage, usage, and equipment maintenance; recommend purchases and space renovation projects.
  • Order supplies and manage purchase requisitions.
  • Participate in capital budget planning and preparation.
  • Maintain recruitment, retention, staff appraisals, competencies, and payroll verification.
  • Provide educational sessions for the team and participate in continuing education.
  • Schedule emergency and preventive maintenance of equipment and manage service contracts.
  • Participate in or lead departmental committees as appropriate.
  • Solicit direct patient feedback for improvement opportunities.
  • Establish goals and objectives aligned with Tier 3, Cancer Service Line, and organizational strategies; develop reporting systems.
  • Participate in equipment replacement projects, ensuring time and budget compliance.
  • Other departmental duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a work‑related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to budget, make financial projections, and write reports.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus.
  • Ability to mediate and resolve complex problems and issues.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide leadership and influence others.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal, and personnel management.

Licenses and Certifications

  • ARRT-RTT
  • CA-RTT

Pay Range

Base pay starting at $83.98 – $111.27 per hour; final remuneration based on experience, education, and other factors.
