Your Opportunity as Department Manager

Location: Orrville OH

Report To: Operations Manager

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site

In this role you will:

• Lead the (AFH) Away From Home Department to deliver department master plan plant reliability and financial goals and systems implementationEnsure the department meets all safety quality and sanitation standards
• Lead high-performance work culture by engaging with team members on the floor and coaching them to problem solve make decisions and become self-reliant removes barriers and provides resources for team’s work
• Build capability of department in the areas of interpersonal technical and business skills through consistent feedback
• Ensures that essential business information and general expectations are clearly communicated and understood by all members of the team
• Responsible for managing the department budget which includes labor maintenance spending production supplies etc.
• Optimize the work in the department and drive toward zero defects using Smucker Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Provide Plant Pillar leadership as needed.
• Develop and implement improvement projects and drive completion through the teams
• Responsible for career development and performance management of direct reports
• Partner with other departments to ensure consistent policies and processes are being implemented across the Orrville plant
• Model the Basic Beliefs and Our Commitment to Each Other
• Provide leadership and flexibility to support plant teams and direct reports

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 5 years of manufacturing operational experience managing supervisors and teams
• Proven ability to lead and influence a large organization to deliver business needs
• Ability to engage on the floor to coach and motivate others
• Strong organizational critical thinking problem solving and root-cause identification skills
• Demonstrated use of Continuous Improvement processes and tools to achieve measurable improvements
• Effectively works across organization boundaries and with diverse teams
• Able to learn new technologies quickly and teach others
• Excellent presentation written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work off-shifts or weekends as needed

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

• Food manufacturing experience
• Decisive proactive and strategic in decision making
• Prior people management experience in a high-performance work environment
• Willingness to relocate for future opportunities
