Job Title: Management Trainee - Aquatics
nReports to: General Manager
nFLSA Status: Part time, Non-Exempt
nSummary: The Management Trainee – Aquatics is an entry point into Goldfish Swim School's Manager Development Program, built for talented instructors and aquatics professionals who are ready to take the next step in their careers. In this role, you will work alongside the AGM-Aquatics and General Manager to develop the leadership and operational skills needed to oversee deck operations, support instructor development, and uphold the highest standards of swimmer safety and progress. This is a hands-on learning experience designed to grow you into a Manager.
nDuties and Responsibilities:
nKeep lessons running on time, on brand, and at the highest level of quality every single shift.
nObserve instructors during lessons and learn to deliver specific, constructive coaching feedback that supports skill development and accurate swim evaluations.
nAssist with monitoring attendance and performance data, flagging patterns or concerns to the AGM – Aquatics so adjustments can be made proactively.
nHelp communicate pre-shift expectations to Instructors, Lifeguards, and Deck Supervisors as directed by the AGM or GM.
nGuide every new hire from their first day through completed training, so they feel supported and set up for success from the start.
nLearn and actively reinforce the school's safety culture on deck — understanding the procedures, mindset, and standards expected of every team member, as guided by the AGM – Aquatics.
nBecome familiar with the Emergency Action Plan and support EAP training efforts so all staff can execute safety procedures confidently — working toward the ability to lead these trainings independently.
nServe as Manager on Duty during assigned shifts under the direction of the AGM – Aquatics or GM, supporting pool deck, front desk, and facilities operations and ensuring every area is running at the Goldfish standard.
nWhat We’re Looking For:
n0–1 years of experience in aquatics or youth programming.
nA natural coach who gives feedback early, often, and constructively.
nComfortable with digital tools and picking up new systems quickly.
nA safety-first mindset with the ability to lead a team calmly under pressure.
nRequired to obtain a Lifeguard Certification through Goldfish Swim School, if not already.
nMust be available for evening and weekend shifts.
nWhat Success Looks Like:
nFamilies feel welcomed and cared for from their very first interaction.
nThe Deck Staff is supported, coached, and set up to succeed each shift.
nLevel progression for students.
nThe school feels clean, organized, and lessons run smoothly every day.
