Description
Job Duties:
  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations in compliance with ACR, MQSA, and facility protocols.
  • Position patients accurately and ensure proper breast compression to obtain optimal imaging results while ensuring patient comfort and dignity.
  • Select appropriate exposure parameters for optimal image quality while minimizing patient radiation dose using the ALARA Principal.
  • Operate and maintain mammography equipment
  • Monitor image quality and ensure proper documentation and labeling of images.
  • Verify patient identity and medical history and explain procedures clearly to ensure patient understanding.
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Practice radiation safety (ALARA) and infection control standards at all times.
  • Perform quality assurance
  • Maintain continuing education and certification requirements in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to students during clinical rotations, ensuring competency in imaging procedures, safety protocols, and patient care standards while fostering professionalism, confidence, and skill development.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited radiologic technology program
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R)
  • Advanced certification in Mammography (M) from ARRT required
  • Current state radiologic technologist license (if applicable per state)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in mammography preferred (may vary by employer)
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Maintain MQSA compliance 15 breast CEU's every three years.
  • Tomography training documentation
  • Digital training documentation
  • Initial mammography training documentation to include 25 signed off exams
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of mammographic procedures, anatomy, and positioning techniques
  • Familiarity with MQSA, ACR, and HIPAA regulations and compliance standards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to comfort and guide patients through procedures.
  • Proficiency in operating digital- tomography-mammography equipment, RIS, and PACS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify image quality and positioning issues.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive patient situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
