This position functions as a specialist in various areas of breast imaging. The role provides direct patient care and may administer medications within scope of practice and state law.


Responsibilities



  • Performs various breast imaging procedures with ionizing and non‑ionizing equipment, including ultrasound‑guided or stereotactic breast biopsies.

  • Complies with ACR imaging guidelines to produce optimum radiographs.

  • Educates patients regarding procedures and maintains a safe, comfortable, supportive environment throughout the exam.

  • Communicates educational information about breast cancer risks and breast imaging.

  • Participates in and is responsible for designated aspects of departmental and procedural quality improvement.

  • Collects and documents patient information accurately and in a timely manner and assists in patient follow‑up.

  • Trains new and student mammography technologists on expected performance levels in breast imaging techniques and quality improvement.

  • Identifies and assists in rectifying equipment problems.

  • Inventories supplies.

  • Ability to maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies overseeing breast imaging services, including quality control and documentation and effective communication with patients regarding their procedures and concerns.


Qualifications


Licenses Required



  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (to be obtained within 30 days of hire).

  • Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah.

  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists for Mammography, R.T. (M).

  • Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Stereotactic breast biopsy experience.

  • Three (3) years of experience in breast imaging.


Working Conditions and Physical Demands



  • Intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may require lifting up to 50 pounds and consistently moving patients or medical equipment while providing patient care.
