Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following ACR requirements. This includes screening and diagnostic mammography as well as other radiology guided procedures such as stereotactic biopsy and breast localization performed within the Breast Center.

Eligibility

Eligible for up to $10,000 sign‑on bonus for full‑time Mammography Technologist positions on the Day or Evening shift who accept a job offer on or before July 22 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult/adolescent and geriatric patients in an expedient and professional manner.
  • Performs mammographic imaging for breast needle localization procedures and stereotactic procedures as trained.
  • Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs and operates equipment for specific procedures.
  • Identifies patient images with correct name, MRN number, breast side and ensures all images have technologist initials.
  • Assists with quality control procedures and documentation of phantom image, repeat analysis, calibration test, geometry calibration, diagnostic review workstation QC, compression test, visual machine checks, view box calibration test, artifact test, CNR/SNR testing and reviewing condition, as delegated by leadership.
  • Assists with compiling statistics for patient follow‑ups, tracking breast localizations, biopsy recommendations and follow‑up on positive biopsy reports.
  • Documents procedures regarding quality control and quality assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State and FDA.
  • Ensures proper use of the Faxitron system.
  • Documents in EMR (Epic) any pertinent patient information.
  • Adapts care to the needs of the patient population served, communicating with patients, parents and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level of development, education and literacy.
  • Prepares equipment cleaning with hospital disinfectant as per manufacturer instructions.
  • Verbalizes proper shielding protocol per institutional policy.
  • Verbalizes image selection wisely.
  • Maintains orderly rooms and ensures supplies are stocked.
  • Properly labels specimen images.
  • Tracks patient location in Epic during the Breast Center visit.
  • Ensures appropriate procedures are begun and ended in a timely manner.
  • Recognizes equipment technical errors and initiates corrective action.
  • Performs other duties directed by supervisory personnel, including but not limited to training new students or personnel.
  • Adheres to standards identified in the Medical Center’s Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent program.
  • Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Radiologic Technology. Must obtain 24 continuing education credits every 2 years; 5 credits annually for mammography.
  • Meet requirements for the National Registry (ARRT) and pass the examination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • Registered Technologist Radiology & Mammography.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Working Conditions

  • Lifts a minimum of 15 lbs, pushes and pulls a minimum of 200 lbs, and stands for the duration of the shift.

In addition to base compensation, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement and retirement benefits. The minimum hourly rate is $43.82. Shift differentials and performance‑based incentives may also apply.
